Emily Ydoate, a Textile Development and Marketing Student at FIT, aspires to make a change in the way textiles/garments are developed and produced upon entering the fashion industry. She is passionate about sustainability in fashion and textiles and is very interested in the world of bioengineered textiles and wants to see more use of them in the industry. Emily hopes to work in textile research or sourcing in the future to help implement new sustainable and ethical practices within each part of the value chain, helping a brand to set a leading example in the industry. As a recent recipient of the Varley Family Textile Technology Scholarship through the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists, she is excited for her future in being a part of the sustainable change within the fashion industry.
