There’s much to be discussed about what’s happening in textiles and apparel, and at Texworld NYC next month, January 20-22, we’ll be bringing you some of the best and the brightest in the industry to talk about all that’s new and exciting, and all that needs to be navigated.

Join our Textile Talks to hear experts from Coach, Steven Madden and Tory Burch discuss Operationalizing Sustainability in Fashion. Peclers Paris will get your imagination wandering as they reveal the four key seasonal moods set to serve as color and inspiration trends for SS27. In today’s market, compliance, traceability and supplier diversification can’t be one-off initiatives—we’ll have those who know sharing how short-term sourcing solutions can support long-term strategies. And, of course, few conversations are happening these days without AI coming up, but the Textile Talk: AI and the New Fashion Value Chain will blow past the hype and hard-to-understand to dig into just how the technology is reshaping this industry.

And that’s just day one!

On day two of Texworld NYC, Sharon Graybeard of SG Files will present her signature “TrendTales” for SS27, with a focus on emerging must-haves, and the fabrics, textiles colors and patterns that will define them. Trade dynamics have been complicated in 2025 to say the least, but our Textile Talk on What Global Regulations and Policies Will Mean for US Brands Selling Internationally, will simplify it down to the need-to-knows. Gotham Foundry, a new innovation center in New York City focused on developing sustainable, circular, next-gen materials, will join us to outline what to watch for and what these material innovations will mean for fashion. Then, taking AI beyond the technical, we’ll have leaders in the space talk through AI and the New Creative Process.

Day three will see a focus on Tier 4 and a discussion centered on what it will take to better involve farmers, fiber cooperatives and circular feedstock innovators in the conversation around transitioning to a low-impact textile economy. Keeping the conversation upstream, we’ll also have experts on hand to talk Tackling the Hurdles of Next-Gen Sustainable Materials up the Supply Chain. And then, take a break from tough realities to venture along Italian Lab’s immersive journey into SS27 and the four essential stories set to shape the season.

We’ll also have an interactive Tech Pack Workshop, where The Chicago Pattern Maker, Xochil Herrera Scheer, will take attendees through all that it entails.

“Tech packs serve as the blueprint for your product, as well as a visual contract between you and your factory. It's important that brands understand the elements that go into this important document,” Herrera Scheer said. “In this workshop I will review the critical areas of a good tech pack, including how to properly measure and spec out your garment so that you can go into production with more confidence and clarity.”

There’s so much in store for you at the next Texworld NYC.

Until then, happy holidays!

What We’re Reading New York

It may have been a challenging year, with costs rising and American manufacturing slowing, but we’re reading about what’s ahead for the new year—from which cultural moments from 2025 may tell us something about 2026, to what’s winning in today’s market.

American Manufacturing Slows for 9th Consecutive Month

U.S. factories had another tough month in November, according to a recent Sourcing Journal article. Orders are coming in at a slower clip, materials are getting pricier, and many companies are cutting back on hiring. Production did rise slightly, but overall the industry is still losing steam—partly due to higher costs tied to current tariff policies. For textile businesses, it signals continued pressure on demand and pricing heading into the new year.

The 2026 Guide to the Can’t-Miss Cultural Moment for Brands

In 2025, the lines between art, film, fashion, sports and pop culture blurred more than ever, creating new opportunities for brands to show up in unexpected places. Think red-carpet–level award shows in the art world, luxury labels backing small but buzzy tennis tournaments, and heritage brands producing films now competing for Oscars. This recent Vogue business guide breaks down the biggest cross-cultural moments shaping 2026—and how brands can tap into them.

How Staud Churns Out Hit After Hit

In a landscape where many brands are struggling to grow, Staud is proving what’s possible, according to a recent Business of Fashion article. Now profitable and on track for $250 million in annual sales, the brand has built a balanced business across categories and channels — from ready-to-wear to accessories, wholesale to DTC. In a new conversation with The Business of Fashion, founders Sarah Staudinger and George Augusto break down the strategies driving their momentum — and what other brands can learn
