Trump Announces 30% Duties on EU, Mexico
Over the weekend, President Donald Trump issued open letters to Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, announcing sweeping 30% tariffs on all goods starting Aug. 1, according to a recent article in Sourcing Journal. Trump cited Mexico’s insufficient action against drug trafficking and signaled potential additional duties for transshipped or retaliatory goods. It’s still unclear whether U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement-covered products will be exempt, adding fresh uncertainty for global supply chains.
